The original 4 week course covering everything from preparing your body for labour to the early days with your new baby.

Week One

  • Place of birth: Choosing the right environment for you

  • The physiology of labour: Anatomy, hormones and optimising progress

  • The Stages of Labour: Understanding the process from the latent phase through to birthing your placenta

  • Postnatal Recovery: What to expect after your baby arrives

  • Birth Partner's Role: How to be a positive support on the day​

  • What you'll need for labour, birth and afterwards: Practical tips on what to pack​

Week Two

  • Introduction to Hypnobirthing: Supporting you to stay calm, relaxed and in control 

  • Biomechanics: Grab a mat and find out how movement, positioning and pelvic alignment can create space to help your baby to descend and rotate for birth

  • Massage: How to soothe and energise the body 

  • Preparing your body for labour: Everything from perineal massage to the date study!

  • Managing Contractions: What pain relief is available to you at home, in the Birth Centre and on Labour Ward​

Week Three

  • Induction of Labour: A review of the evidence and guidelines

  • Informed Choice: Navigating decision making throughout your journey

  • ​Alternatives to spontaneous vaginal birth: When and why you may be offered an instrumental option or Caesarean Section

  • Baby Care: Skin care, nappy changing, bathing, dressing....practice before the big day!​

Week Four

  • SIDS: Sleeping your baby safely

  • The Fourth Trimester:  Understanding your baby's needs and development after birth

  • Vitamin K and Screening for your baby: What you will be offered in the early days​

  • Infant First Aid: Demonstration and optional hands on practice managing resuscitation and choking

  • Feeding: Breast, formula, mixed...there's lots to talk about!​​

Hypnobirthing Workshop

Positive Caesarean Workshop

Prepare for an informed and empowered experience whether that be elective or unplanned. This supportive workshop helps you to approach surgery with confidence. You'll learn what to expect before, during and after the operation, how to create a tailored birth experience and techniques that can help you to feel calm and in control.
